MORE WAYS TO HELP

  • Support elected officials who put the citizens first and who will offer a better vision for the future of New Hanover County.

  • Attend and speak at County Commissioner meetings about your concerns. Click here for all the tools you need to help with your comments. The meeting schedule can be found here. (Meetings are shown on the right hand side)

  • Schedule a meeting with your local elected officials to discuss your concerns and to ask how they intend to address them.

  • Email your elected officials with your questions and concerns. Be sure you cite valid reasons for your concerns and include how you will personally be negatively impacted,

  • Contact the Planning and Land Use staff with your questions and concerns. Email director Rebekah Roth and copy Community Planning Supervisor Katia Boykin.

  • Share Save Sledge Forest information with your friends and neighbors, post on social media, write about it, talk about it.

  • Our current County Commission voted approximately 98% of the time to approve new development at higher density without a plan and without the infrastructure to support it. This is causing congested roads backed up for miles at rush hour, overcrowded schools, an overcapacity, understaffed hospital, increased flooding, and the loss in perpetuity of thousands of acres of natural woodlands and wetlands and the tragic loss of much of our wildlife. Write and visit your elected officials and let them know your voice matters.

  • Sign up to receive notification of upcoming rezoning and community meetings in your area. www.nhcgov.com/2697/Engage-NHC

  • Participate in the Comprehensive Plan Community Engagement. www.nhcgov.com/2641/Comprehensive-Plan-Update

  • Join us in this movement to Save Sledge Forest and to protect what’s left of our beautiful natural areas in New Hanover County….before it’s too late...

We would love for you to join our grassroots efforts to Save Sledge Forest.
